Plaid And Pony!

Okay, so maybe this title was a tad misleading. No, there will not be the appearance of a small horse. Instead, there will be the very rare appearance of me wearing a ponytail ;) I've never been a huge fan of wearing my hair up. I think when you have as much of it as I do, it becomes a bit of a security blanket. When you finally put it up, you just feel super naked! And obviously it's a lot to manage, and attempt to do anything with! But on the special occasion that I do wear it up, I like to match my whole look around it. Yes, your outfit can be inspired by anything, including your hair! I consider a pony to be a very young and laid back hairstyle, so I felt I needed a cutesy casual look to match. Well ta-dah! Here it is. A plaid lace-up, my absolute favorite cardigan, cropped jeggings, suede booties, and there you have it. Perfect for strolling around town, running errands, or casually picking up Paczkis with your sister ;)

Shop DoLache Space!

What happens when you take two bloggers, a photgrapher, a beautiful building, and a new brand, and put them all together? You get some seriously artsy shots for a website! You also hear a lot of "Ooh yeah, that's nice", and "Your hair is giving me life!" In short, it makes for a pretty fabulous afternoon! Organized by my also fabulous friend, Sandra, who is the fashion and lifestyle blogger of Do'Lache Space. Funny as it is, I met Sandra in the ladies room at my first DGG Fashion Speak. While reapplying lipstick, I couldn't help but notice and compliment her outfit. She was wearing a white top, and a black skater skirt held up by the most adorable suspenders with little bows. Something I would never think to put together, and appreciated the uniqueness of it. Now that's when you know someone is meant for fashion, when they step outside the box in the most creative way. After seeing Sandra at several events since, and a year or so down the road, she is now the owner of her own clothing designs! Shop Do'Lache Space is a line of tops with her own cute and quirky quotes and designs. Sayings like "Coffee & Kindess Matters", or designs like "✌ Love 🐱" are perfect for fashionistas everywhere. Not to mention, the comfortable and flattering fits are made entirely in the USA. So cheers to Sandra, for living a fun, fearless, lifestyle, and portraying it perfectly in her style, blog, and designs. Congratulations, and thanks for having me girl!

Blue Skies Ahead!

This Michigan weather is such a tease. It's February still, yet we've reached 67° already! For fashionistas, that really messes with our outfit planning. It just feels unnatural when you skip the jacket one day, then you're forced to be an Eskimo again the next! Or if you're like my friend Kyle, who had no problem wearing shorts and flip flops last week ;) The weather hasn't taken a turn for the worst yet, but that doesn't mean I'm letting my guard down! I'll simply enjoy the weather while I can, and only hope it lasts! One way I take the transition from winter to spring very slowly, is by adding lighter colors and layers to my looks. I still play it safe with jackets and scarves, seeing as those are easy layers to remove if needed! I bring out the more breathable shirts, and pants that show a little ankle. Booties can be worn all year round depending on how you style them, so I keep those going! White, cream, and camel start to become my neutrals over black, brown, and grey. Of course, I never forget that oh so important pop of color. Just because it's spring, doesn't mean you have to tone down the vibrance and pull out the pastels! So here's to hoping for a steady shift to spring, and blue skies ahead ;)

Welcome To District Detroit!

Welcome to District Detroit. 50 blocks of dense urban development, consisting of sports, entertainment, shopping, and dining. Completely walkable, with the option of a QLine transportation system. The first block in America to have 4 professional teams, soon to be 5 with the addition of soccer. The creme de la creme is the Little Ceasers Arena. 20,000 seats with 60 suites, twice as steep as the Joe, with gondola seating hanging from the rafters. A players club, where players walk right through a glass hallway open to restaurant view. Red wings banners swaying from the ceiling, that roll up when the Pistons need to roll down. A store that flips between themes of Detroit, Red Wings, Pistons, and concerts. Outside, a glass covered public street open 365 days a year. Access to restaurants, cafes, shops, art shows, flower sales, and much more. Across the street, a 5 star boutique hotel with 200 rooms up to major league standards. To top it all off? A parking lot with an app that lets you reserve a parking space from home. Sounds incredible doesn't it? So incredible, that by the time it's done it will have cost the Ilitch family 2.5 billion. How do I know all of this? I was given the opportunity to take a backstage tour with Travel Massive and Visit Detroit of everything going into District Detroit. I can hardly wait to see it all come together. So thank you to Travel Massive and Visit Detroit for having me, and to Mike Ilitch for the legacy you have left our city.

Love Is All You Need!

For as long as I can remember, there's been the argument whether Valentine's Day should be celebrated or ignored. I personally always celebrate it, especially seeing as my birthday is the day before...and I've always secretly wished I waited only 1.5 more hours to be a Valentine baby! But even if it didn't have special meaning, I know I would still partake in the holiday! Why? Because love should be celebrated every moment of every day, but sometimes that becomes difficult in our busy lives. Having a day to remind you of that is a good thing! As cheesy as this sounds, I believe love is the single most important thing in the Universe. Not just love for a significant other, but love for your family, friends, pets, yourself, and the life you've been given. I've always felt the more love you give, the more that you will receive. So why hold back? Love everyone and everything. Feel it deep in your soul, and show it in whatever way you can. Whether you express it through actions, words, or unbreatheable bear hugs! When it comes to Valentine's Day, I understand that giving someone chocolates or flowers tends to feel expected, but it's not the gift that matters. It's the fact that the day is fueled by expressions of love. So don't allow the stresses of life let you forget this: to really embrace every day, "Love is all you need." ;)

Date Day At The DIA!

There are those times when you look in your closet and there's nothing to wear, and then there's those times when you look in your closet and there's too much to wear! Or maybe I'm the only one with that problem...;) When it comes to picking out an outfit for a Valentine's Day date, I have trouble narrowing down my choices! Sometimes it's difficult to determine how dressy or casual one should dress. Especially if it's a first date! No one wants to be caught looking like they were trying too hard to impress you. Thankfully I don't have to worry about that, seeing as everyone who knows me is aware that I overdo it every day of the week! And I'm pretty sure my boyfriend has seen enough bedazzle on me to last him a lifetime! For those of you who like to do it up a little more on special occasions, here are my best suggestions! Don't assume you have to wear a dress. Some black skinny jeans, a blouse, or a romantic lace top can be worn just as well! Pick of romantic color. Pink, red, burgandy, and black, are perfect colors to compliment the holiday. Add small pops of detail. Red lips, red pumps, or a tassel necklace will do just the trick to pull off a complete look. If go-big-or-go-home isn't your motto, I hope you enjoyed my more simplistic advice. It applies no matter if it's movies, dinner, or the DIA. So save time in picking out that outfit, and spend more sweet time with your hunny ;*

Valentines Day On The Bay!

Everyone should love Valentine's Day! It's not just a day for romance, but for showing all the special people in your life just a little more love. If you're an anti-Valentine, then it's an excuse to pamper yourself a little extra! To all you critics, yes, I do consider it a real holiday! Valentine's day is not just some Hallmark occasion to me :P I just think it's silly to ignore a day entirely made up of nothing but love, a trip to the spa, a night out to dinner, or a box full of chocolates! Now that's something that everyone can agree on...chocolate. If that's what you're looking for, join us for Downtown New Baltimore's Valentine's Style Girl's Night Out at On The Bay Customs. On February 16th from 4-8pm, enjoy a night of style, shopping, conversation, and chocolate, that all goes toward a good cause! They've joined up with Sparkle Network for $5 a person to benefit Turning Point. So I guess I'll see you there? I'll be the one who already dove into the chocolate truffle pops ;)

Beau Satchelle Handbags!

Have you ever been perusing social media and stumbled across something you've instantly fallen in love with? I don't know about you, but I'm guilty of refreshing my Instagram until I do just that! One day during my endless scrolling, I discovered a beautiful bespoke leather handbag company called Beau Satchelle. Upon researching, I found that luxury designer and leather artisan T. Michael takes the time to hand-stitch every creation. Along with handbags, he also creates clutches, cases, luggage, and specialty one-of-a-kind products. I viewed their every picture with awe, and thought to myself "Wow, how I'd love to work with them!" Their craftsmanship was undeniably good, and their designs were elegant and polished. A culmination of everything that I admire. To my surprise and delight, shortly after I was given the opportunity to work with them by Stylish Dreams Group. So on a sunny Detroit morning, I met with April of Beau Satchelle and photographer Christian O'Grady of FYT Productions at One Woodward. They were an absolute pleasure to work with; professional, but also very sweet, and funny. I enjoyed portraying an upscale lifestyle, and felt as though I was channeling Audrey Hepburn once I threw my hair in a bun. I'm very thankful to have had the opportunity to work with them, and was incredibly happy with the results of it! If you appreciate high quality as much as I do, you won't regret the glamour of a Beau Satchelle bag ;)
