Thank you, 2016. Hello 2017!

Why does it seem like everyone is ragging on 2016? Personally, this year was one of  tremendous transformation for me. While it did have its downs, the ups just kept on coming! So here's a little summary of all the decisions I made, the changes I underwent, and all the things I loved about 2016! This year, I decided to reach for my dreams. I teamed up with my sister, and decided we wanted to become a full-time blogger and photographer pair. We blogged our hearts out, and now work with countless brands and companies. We sat front row covering fashion shows, store openings, and VIP events. This year, I found beautiful people. I was reunited with my first boyfriend, and first love, and couldn't be happier. I met and began working with some amazing people in my industry looking to make a change in Michigan fashion. This year, I made my health a top priority. I became a full fledged health nut, and switched all my beauty products to all-natural, vegan, and organic. I dove into the alternative medicine scene, and began using Young Living Essential Oils. I did a fair amount of yoga, and really practiced positive living and mindful thinking. This year, I really embraced my love of the outdoors. I went against my fear of heights, and became a rock climbing enthusiast of all things! I kayaked the Huron River, paddled across Stoney Creek, and pack rafted the Clinton River...in the dark! I hiked, boated, fished, swam, and mountain biked trails till my heart's content. This year, I traveled to beautiful places. I went back to Maryland with the squad to witness our friend graduate from the US Naval Academy. I took a local tour of Michigan with Emily, visiting Frankenmuth, Greenfield Village, Belle Isle, Eastern Market, Lexington, etc. And I camped, hiked, and climbed mountains in Kentucky with some of the coolest people. Phew, that's quite the list. So thank you, 2016, for an incredible year. My goals for next year? To up my style game (Like I did with my cute outfit below from SheIn), to live the life of a full-time blogger, to make a difference in the Michigan fashion industry, to make some big mula, to travel even farther, to become stronger mentally and physically, and to love everything and everyone just a little bit harder. I've got a feeling 2017 is going to be even better ;)

Velvet Holidays!

Have you ever been positive that something you once wore could never come back in style? Or at least hoped that it wouldn't? My mom has always jokingly shook her head in disgust when I leave the house in plaid. After wearing it so much as a kid, she claims that style has long passed for her. For me, that one thing would be velvet. I remember being put in little velvet dresses for the first seven years of my life. Especially since every Christmas picture lining the stairway of my house is of Emily and I dressed in velvet. Naturally that made me a little apprehensive toward the fabic. Okay, I'll admit I avoided anything velvet like the plague for the longest time! I guess I can see mom's point of view on plaid! So when velvet recently came back as a big trend, I did not immediately jump on board. It's taken me awhile to come around, but I finally decided to give it a try again. Now being older, I get the appeal towards velvet. It's a soft, moveable fabric, that stretches and fits your shape well. It also gives off a luster that makes for a luxurious look. All these qualities end up making it the perfect (I can't believe I'm saying this) Christmas dress. Mom really knew what she was doing back then! This year, I really wanted to get in the spirit of the holiday, and chose a red velvet dress from Make Me Chic! I might have liked it so much that I grabbed a blue one from Rose Wholesale for New Years as well. So jump on board with me, and give velvet one more try. I'm definitely feeling that 90's nostalgia ;)

Ginger Snaps Jewelry!

I love anything you can customize. You can be given a great selection of something, but just wish it came in a different color or pattern. Or maybe wish it was a little more personal to you. Put my name, initials, or anything that pertains to who I am on something, and it's a done deal. That's why when I was little, I begged my parents for a new charm to add to my charm bracelet every time we went to the store. For example, I had a little bumblebee because my name starts with B, a cheerleader because I was in cheer camp, and a tennis racket because I was taking lessons. Now being older, I still find great value in personalizion! With every other Esty seller offering personalized anything, it seems like everyone feels the same. You can have a coffee mug with your business logo on it, a hat displaying your dog's name, or even a bumper sticker that says "Keep Calm And Bedazzle On". With Things Remembered engraving, Alex and Ani charms, and Coach monogrammed handbags, even big companies are jumping on board! So when I discovered Ginger Snaps customizable jewelry at On The Bay Customs, of course I was excited! With Ginger Snaps, you choose the base piece that you like, and add whatever charms you want to it simply by snapping them on and off! They have a wide range of necklaces, bracelets, rings, keychains, headbands, sunglasses, and even clutches to choose from! Then there's the thousands of charm styles, that come in every color, design, or thing you can think of. So if you'd like to show off who you are in a unique way, head to On The Bay Customs and get started ;)

Show Sticker Support!

Yes, I realize that it's freezing cold outside. But like I said in my last post, I stay sane by pretending I'm in Hawaii ;) Although pretending it's summer in Michigan comes just as close to that! Some of my fondest memories have been spent enjoying everything a Michigan summer has to offer. Warm days on a lake, basking in the sun, and swimming off the shore. So of course, I have an affliction towards anything that reminds me of those wonderful times. A great little gift that serves as a great reminder, is a sticker. Being someone who loves a good Michigan adventure, I've noticed how huge it is to add stickers of the things you support to your gear! I love kayaking, paddle boarding, boating, biking, hiking, and now climbing. Let me tell you, this community of adventurers put stickers on their kayaks, boards, boats, backpacks, helmets, and anywhere they can think of! So if you support spreading the Michigan love, go grab you and your pals some stickers from On The Bay Customs! Their stickers feature themes like lake life, bay life, boaters, mermaids, sail boats, lighthouses, Michigan, Great Lakes, and Harsen's Island. Their sticker designs are also sold as key chains, t-shirts, hats, and more. Stop in On The Bay Customs Downtown New Baltimore, Michigan to start your sticker collection!

Brisk Days On The Bay!

I'm not ready for winter. Even though it's been a glorious year in Michigan, I'm still dreading the cold. I'm one of those people who could bask on a beach all year round and not question the lack of seasons. Which is funny coming from someone who grew up in a state where we can have all four seasons in a day. Guess I've seen a little too much of it over the years! And even though I do enjoy spring, summer, and fall, I want them to be toasty. Therefore, I can confidently say that I am not a winter person. No matter how warm the winter starts out, I know it'll end in me shoveling myself out of the driveway. So when it's below zero, and the snow is falling, and the wind is howling, I've got to find ways to stay sane. My favorite way, is by bundling up in cozy layers and picturing myself back on the shores of Hawaii. Now this takes a lot of effort, especially when I actually leave my house and enter the frozen tundra. Sun...sand...surf...and my ice scraper just broke. Ugh, I give up. But what doesn't take a lot of work is looking stylish while staying hot! Ponchos, sweaters, and scarves are some of my favorite pieces to pull on over my first 5 layers. No joke, I will wear tops over tops, and socks over socks until I feel like the abominable snowman! Add some jeans, boots, and sunglasses to avoid that snowy glare, and I might as well be in Oahu with how warm I feel ;P If you're wanting to look your best, while attempting to feel your best this winter, head to On The Bay Customs. A trendy store right on beautiful Lake St. Clair, that carries clothing, jewelry, accessories, home decor and gifts. Their beachy vibes will get you right in the mood to catch the next plane to paradise, along with their array of unique bohemian fashion. Spend brisk days On The Bay, and watch your winter blues fade away ;)

Sparkle With Rose Gal!

The holidays are the time of year to sparkle and shine. When you can get away with being the brightest thing in the room. That's right, you show that Christmas tree how it's done ;) I'm someone who likes to sparkle every day of the year. My name is BeDazzled Britt after all! So when it comes to holiday parties, I tend to be that blindingly bright dresser. Especially if it's a very formal or fancy event! I also like to stick to colors fitting of season. Black and white, being they're very sleek and elegant, silver and gold for that holiday shine, and red or green for that holiday touch. When I go all out with a sparkly skirt or top, I like to balance it out with a simple but interesting top or bottom. When searching for those pairing pieces, I knew I had to check out Rose Gal. There I found this black cold shoulder studded top, and vibrant red tie top. So go ahead and be the most festive person at the party, no judgements passed here ;)

Stroll And Shop In SheIn!

Emily and I have the tendency to get in the car and start driving to nowhere. When I say nowhere, I mean it! No real plans, no real destination, just a drive in hopes of stumbling across a hidden gem. We went on a bit of a road trip this past summer, and found some beautiful sights all over Michigan. Our favorites, were some of the smallest towns tucked away on the water. Filled with cafe's, chocolate shops, souvenir stops, bakeries, and boutiques! This Tuesday, we decided to take another mini road trip. This time, we had a park in mind that we had found pictures online of. Little did we know, that there are two Pollard Parks...one being 15 minutes away, and one being in New Zealand. Needless to say, we were looking at the pictures of the one in New Zealand. That's okay though, because we started our usual routine of driving to nowhere, and found the adorable waterfront town of New Baltimore. When we do these trips, I like to dress comfortably for the drive, but add some pizzazz so I feel trendy enough to walk into a café or boutique. With the cold weather approaching, I like a lot of relaxed layers that I can leave on or off. Many of the trendy and comfy layering pieces I've found have been from SheIn. Like this sequin sleeved zip-up, and ombre pullover. So when you feel like a random road trip, or strolling through lakeside shops, keep SheIn in mind ;)
