Mad Hatter Tea Party!

"There is a place, like no place on earth. A land full of wonder, mystery, and danger. Some say, to survive it, you need to be as mad as a hatter. Which, luckily, I am." -The Mad Hatter. If you're a tea lover, or you're just a little mad, then try a Mad Tea Party at The Mad Hatter Bistro and Tea Room in downtown Birmingham. In order to do this, you must make a reservation for tea time between the hours of 11pm-4pm. When you arrive, it will feel as if you fell down the rabbit hole, and landed as Alice in Wonderland at the Mad Hatter's tea setting. Be prepared for pretty little China plates, delicate tea cups, sugar cubes, and saucers of cream and honey. Also be prepared to have a seriously difficult time choosing which flavors to try off of their expansive menu of bottomless tea. I would personally suggest the chocolate mint tea, seeing as it was the crowd favorite! The service was absolutely wonderful, and we were even sent with a bag of 3 extra tea flavors to try at home. Just when we thought it couldn't possibly get better, a 3 tiered tray of finger sandwiches, scones, spreads, fruits, and pastries was brought to the table. We thoroughly enjoyed tasting every last delicacy, and couldn't stop giggling over how fancy we felt. Time felt as though it had slowed, and I felt so grateful slowly sipping my tea, trying each treat, and enjoying each other's company. With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, I love a good moment to take in and enjoy the little things. In a quite literal sense, the miniature size of everything was adorable...;) So try something a little out of the ordinary, and host a tea party at The Mad Hatter. "Every adventure requires the first step." -Cheshire Cat.

Glambitious Beauty Products!

I've teamed up with my favorite all-natural vegan beauty product brand, Glambitious, for a special 10% discount off your entire order with my code BEDAZZLEDBRITT at checkout on www.glambitio.us! I was introduced to Glambitious almost 9 years ago by the owner and creator, Allison. At the mere age of 12, she created her own natural line of beauty products and began selling them at craft shows. Fast forward 10 years, and Glambitious now has an impressive catalog of over 13 products for women, and the extension of Natural Gentleman, a 3 product line for men. Each product comes in glass or metal containers, and is professionally packaged and wrapped with a bow. Their tagline, "Natural as Diamonds", explains that many seem to overlook the fact that diamonds are natural, and that is what makes them so prized and luxurious. It has become a rapidly growing company with a mission to indulge it's customers with products that are all-natural and glamorous. That's exactly how I've felt each time I've ordered a product from Glambitious, and this is how I want my readers to feel as well. So here is my review of the 9 products that I have had the pleasure of purchasing from them so far!
Flawless Face Wash- This is an entirely oil-based wash that washes, spot treats, tones, and moisturizes all at once! I have to admit, using an oil wash on my already oily skin made me a tad nervous, but I was blown away by how smooth my skin felt after a week of use!
Flawless Face Serum- With a custom blend of oils, it left my skin nourished with a surprising citrus scent. After a week's worth of use, my complexion already looked clearer!
Flawless Face Mask- This mask makes for a great spa night in, and smells chocolaty sweet! Mix it with green tea, apply, wait until dry, and wash to feel detoxified and purified skin!
Luscious Locks Serum- This serum transformed my hair from dry and bland to shiny and soft in only a few uses! I suggest getting your hair wet before application, so it's easier to blend throughout.
Beauty-Queen Body Butter Candle- Light this candle for a calming essense, then use it's creamy wax as a moisturizer for beautiful skin!
Kissable Lip Balm- I use this balm every night in order to keep my lips hydrated for the long day ahead, and it smells of the signature chocolate bunny you indulge in every Easter!
Perfect Nails Cuticle Cream- I use this after each manicure and pedicure for flawless nail beds! The combination of coconut oil, cocoa butter, argan oil, and candelillia wax makes for model-worthy fingers.
Love-Your-Skin Loofah- This vegetable loofah comes in 5 delicious scents, exfoliates my skin, and leaves it glowing!
Stylish Soap- With the shea, cocoa, mango butter, and coconut oil, it left my skin feeling amazingly soft. I'm completely obsessed with the almond scent, but it also comes in lavender, lime, grapefruit, and lavender lime!
With how satisfied I've been with the products I have tried, I'm sure that their other products are just as wonderful! The rest of their products consist of the Flawless Face Spray, Coconut Sugar Scrub Cocktail, Glamorous Coconut Oil, and Candles. If you're a gentleman, or have one in your life that you'd love to spoil, try the Natural Gentleman line, consisting of the No-Scruff Beard Balm, Classic Aftershave Serum, or ManCure Scrub. So try it for yourself, and share the glam with your friends, family, and maybe as the perfect gift at your next occasion ;)

NDP Fashion Show!

Yesterday I attended the NDP Fashion Show, hosted at the Great Oaks Country Club. The theme was Destination Detroit, to honor the heart behind a great Michigan city. Chairs lined each side of the runway with personal gift bags filled with Michigan made products like Bettermaid chips, and programs filled with Michigan fun facts. The host of the show was none other than radio favorite, Mojo, from channel 9.55's Mojo in the Morning. I was there, because I styled 18 of the girls in outfits from my boutique, Francesca's, and served as media coverage. I went a couple hours early as backstage help, before I covered the show. Let me tell you, behind the scenes of a fashion show is no joke! Backstage was a frenzy of girls dressing, chatting, texting, and oozing over how beautiful one another looked. There were shouts and demands for "dress tape!", "lipstick!", and "someone zip me!". The air was filled with the scent of hairspray, deodorant, and the Chanel perfume they were spraying each other for "good luck!" xD There was an hour of practice runs, then finally the line-up for the real deal. During the show, everything from gowns, to printed pants, to flirty little dresses strutted down the runway. With several different stores paticipating, there was a vast difference in the styles shown. They went down in pairs of parent and child, girlfriend and boyfriend, or two best friends. There were kisses blown, giggles, high-fives, and chest bumps thrown about. Everyone was having such a fun time, and really adding in their personalities. As they made their way down the runway, Mojo gave a brief description of their look, and highlighted each student's journey through school. Cheers and roars were heard from different sections of the crowd as "future Michigan State", or "future Michigan University" student was listed off. To close off the show, there were dancers in "Made in Detroit" tees performing to a mash-up of Eminem's tracks. Then a final walk was done with every model pair bidding the crowd goodbye. I had a wonderful time, and was very fortunate to be able to work with such sweet ladies! Next up in the fashion world, is the VIP Media and Press Reception I'm attending for the next event I'm covering. Stayed tuned, or you'll miss the surprise ;)

Essential Oils So Far!

Since it has officially been a couple months of me using my Young Living Essential Oils, I feel that I can confidently say that I am a believer! Not that I was a skeptic to begin with, but to actually put the product to the test is what it's all about! Keep in mind that there are like a hundred uses for each oil, so I was unable to use them all to their max! Somehow in one month, I managed to need a reason to put each one of my 12 oils to the test in some way. Makes me feel extremely needy, but you never realize how much happens in a couple months until you document it ;) Below are the results that I found from each oil!
Stress Away- 1 drop used on my wrists, back and front of neck daily helped with my stress and anxiety levels. I also was experiencing some serious leg/foot cramps one night after yoga, and after applying a few drops they vanished. This quickly became my favorite scent, and most religiously used oil!
Lemon- 1 drop in my daily cup of green tea or water added a wonderful citrus scent and taste. Seeing as I'm someone who has always had trouble getting in my daily water intake, I noticed a considerable difference in my thirst, and my energy levels as an added plus!
Purification- 1 drop quickly healed a nasty cut, so it's great for that reason. I did however try to use it as a facial astringent and did not find any positive results.
Peppermint- 1 drop on my wrists, back and front of neck gave me an added boost of energy and alertness. The smell is intoxicating, and great to use in a sugar scrub recipe as well!
Panaway- 1 drop used on my temples quickly eliminated any headache. I also used it on my sore muscles, and for my backaches only to have almost instant pain relief.
Lavender- When diffused, I found that I had no trouble falling asleep, and slept much easier. 1 drop added to my mascara also did a wonderful job of naturally lengthening my lashes. I also used several drops in my shampoo bottle, and had much healthier and moisturized hair! I couldn't live without Lavender now.
R.C- I used several drops on my chest in attempts to rid myself of an annoying cough, but sadly found no positive results.
Copaiba- I moved on to try this on my chest for cough relief instead, and my cough was gone within the next few days!
Frankincense- I loved diffusing it while meditating, yoga, or doing some nightly reading, or writing for clarity in deep thinking and feeling.
Digize- 1 drop rubbed onto my stomach helped aid with minor internal discomforts.
Theives- I'm going to call this the miracle oil, seeing as I was able to dodge a cold AND the flu with this baby! 1 drop rubbed onto the bottom of each foot when I felt that "tinge of sickness" helped tremendously with immune support. I managed to be the only healthy and chipper member of my household during sick times!
Tea Tree- I had read countless positive reviews on using this for acne and radiant skin, but sadly for some people the opposite can happen! Tea Tree did not work for me, but this does not mean the same for everyone!
WELL...
To sum this all up, I'd have to say that my favorite essential oils are Stress Away, Lemon, Panaway, Lavender, Frankincense, and Thieves! If you'd like to find your own results, try any of these oils and more from www.youngliving.com under my sponsor ID: 3506759!

Why Blog?

It seems like a silly question to some, but why should someone blog? I know there are the obvious reasons I've heard like "It helps your mental stability to put it down in writing", or "It's becoming a growing field where you can become famous and make a lot of money", but what else? I had a moment of realization the other day in the boutique that I work. We had just received a mug with gold lettering across the front reading "Blogging Day", that I instantly fell in love with. I was just about to sneak one in the back before the customers swooped in like locusts, and noticed a girl admiring them. Thinking she was a fellow blogger, I over-excitedly asked her if she was a blogger. Sheepishly holding the mug she replied "Well no...I have a Tumbler, but I'm not famous, I don't travel the world, and I don't model in beautiful clothing... I just post things that I love. Things that make me happy". I was incredibly taken aback by that statement. When has doing something that you love had to involve all that in order to be considered "real" blogging? So I said to her "I think that if you have a Tumbler, and it makes you happy to post on it, that you are a true blogger. And who knows? Maybe someday you'll have all those things, but I'm glad you love what you blog now". She smiled back at me in such a genuine way and said "Thank you, you're right. Maybe someday I will". I like moments like that. Moments where you realize that happiness comes above all, and that you can connect with someone over something as simple as that. So if there's anyone out there who feels the same way, just blog. Just do it for the pure fact that it makes you happy. I'll follow you along for the ride ;)
