Personal Progress On My 2020 "Goals"

"5 Years Later..."
...
I always imagine that being said in the tone from SpongeBob.
Any other 90's kids relate with that?
Anyhow!
Not sure why everyone is saying that January has felt like it's lasted 5 years.
Personally January has flown by for me!
...
I've definitely felt rushed with getting my "New Year's Goals" in this first month.
BUT, I have made progress.
...
Here are the "goals" I set for myself, and the progress I've experienced so far!

Move Somewhere Wonderful
Finger's crossed, guys, but I think Erik and I have finally found a cute apartment we both approve of.
It even has a garage for Erik's extensive collection of outdoor crap!
*Correction*
Not crap, very valuable fine kayak specimens ;)
...
Plan A Beautiful Wedding
Wow, let me just start by saying that wedding planning is in no way glamorous.
There are way more things that go into it than you could ever imagine! Despite the difficulty, I have managed to plan everything except a handful of things.
Plus, I finally found my dress ;)

Be My Own Boss
This was more of a "by the end of year" goal, but at least I've taken steps.
I had a wonderful meeting with my PR girl, Adrienne, and I feel good about where the blog and fashion line are going!
...
Travel Somewhere New
This has been my goal for the past several years, and I've done a darn good job of keeping at it!
I've seen a new state almost every year, and I still plan on it this year.
After all, one of my ultimate goals is to see every state and several countries!

More Meditating
I've nailed this one you guys!
Whether it's in the morning shower or right before bed, I have successfully cleared my mind and relaxed for 10-15 mins a day.
Whoot!
...
Daily Gratitude Journaling
Maybe it hasn't been DAILY, but it has definitely been a few times a week.
Which is fine by me, so I'm changing it to weekly journaling!
Yes, I am allowed to change that ;)

Read More Books
While I read several really great books last year, my thirst for knowledge needs to be quenched on a bigger scale!
So, I hit up Barnes & Noble and bought some goodies.
I also ordered my dear friend's first book, "Finding Grace", which I already dove into!
...
Drink More Water
I've hardly been someone who drinks enough water.
I recently read that you need to drink half your body's weight + 15 ounces PER DAY.
That's nuts.
So, I bought myself some seriously cute water bottles from Marshalls, and so far have been hitting around 55oz!
...
I'd love to hear how January has gone for you, and what steps you've taken to get to where you want to be.
Leave a comment below!
...
Wishing you progress and clarity in the month to come!
...
XOXO, Bedazzled Britt

  1. I love that you said "Goals" and not resolutions....Making resolutions is easy; committing to them is much harder... Goals require self-discipline, kind of like resolutions, but offer hope when we’ve lost our way. And to be totally honest, we all loose our way from time to time... It is just a human thing to do... The two of yours that I like the best is Read more books... for I find getting lost in a good book offers a variety of benefits. It allows you to meditate in a different way.. and it gives you a way to expand your imagination. Imagination structures knowledge. The eye can only see a limited array of colors, but the artist using his or her imagination can blend them together in ways that we never imagined and suddenly a blank canvas speaks and awakens our souls. My second choice would be Gratitude journaling... Gratitude is Attitude... I came upon this quote a while back and find it serves me well... "An attitude of gratitude means making it a habit to express thankfulness and appreciation in all parts of your life, on a regular basis, for both the big and small things alike. As Howes puts it, "If you concentrate on what you have, you'll always have more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you'll never have enough.". And so it is for me... My dear Brit... You are an amazing young lady. You will go far in life, remain humble, give to those less fortunate than yourself... stay kind and loving and the world will return all those favors in kind.

    1. Hey Swamee!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read the blog, and leave such a thoughtful comment! I truly appreciate it! Yes, I never say "resolutions" because it comes with such a heavy feeling of expectation! We absolutely do lose our way, and finding ways to grow is how I've always found my way back. I love reading, writing, and meditating, they are great ways to reconnect with oneself. Gratitude absolutely shapes out mindset, and eventually our reality. Thank you for your kind words, I wish nothing but the best for you! Please feel free to chat anytime!
