Happy Earth Day!

I'm sure by now everyone's heard me preach about treating Earth with respect. Living where I live, there's so much natural beauty to admire. Michigan is home to the Great Lakes, which make up the largest body of fresh water on Earth, accounting for one-fifth of the freshwater surface on the planet. That's a whopping 6 quadrillion gallons! To not truly admire that, and nurture it's health and well-being would be ridiculous! You don't have to take grand measures, small steps all add up. You may wonder what steps I take? Well I'm glad you asked ;) I eat organic. That means food without pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, fertilizers, antibiotics, hormones, and GMO's. Refusing to eat foods containing harmful substances, slows a production that contaminates our soil, water, and wildlife. I use organic products. I scrub with a natural loofah, wash and moisturize my face with coconut oil, and use organic shampoo, conditioner, soap, and toothpaste. All things that will naturally breakdown, that don't contain synthetic chemicals. I enjoy the outdoors. I love to hike, bike, swim, kayak, and rock climb. Just spending time in nature creates an appreciation for it, which sparks inspiration to treat it better! Then there's the long list of other seemingly silly things, like choosing paper over plastic, only using reusable water bottles, keeping and caring for plants in my room, and picking up trash when it crosses my path. So try one, two, or all of these steps. They aren't just great for Earth, they're great for you too :)

Nauti And Nice!

Most would say that summer is the only season for nautical. I would say that they are very wrong ;) I wear it all year long, but the official season for nautical to rock the runway is actually spring! Surprised? With it's crisp whites, blue stripes, and flowy styles, it's the perfect transition style to summer. Besides, I know there's plenty of you who've already made a beach walk or two this year! Not to mention all those early birds whose boats are already in the lake. What can I say? We Michiganders love to take advantage of every moment of nice weather we can get! So why not be on trend while repping the Michigan lifestyle? Cotton long sleeved jerseys, terry pullovers, and hoodies to keep you cozy against that lake breeze. So shop your local Michigan boutique, On The Bay Customs, for those beach worthy looks!

Detroit Rebels!

How would you define a rebel? If you look it up, it's listed as "A person who rises in opposition or armed resistance against an established government or ruler." Vadim Yelizarov, owner of Detroit T-shirts, and now Detroit Rebels, would give you a much different definition. To him, a rebel is someone who against all odds, pushes towards their dreams. Who holds strong to the belief that hard work really does pay off. Today's rebels are the entrepreneurs. The creative minds with brilliant ideas, and the bravery to share those ideas with their community, and eventually the world. Those with the gusto to go out and make things happen, despite the risks. Detroit Rebels specifically, are the ones with the drive to do this in a city that most still consider a "lost cause." Vadim's designs have always been 100% with Detroit love in mind. Which is incredibly apparent when speaking with him. His passion for the cause is absolutely inspirational. Especially when saying, "All our designs foster dedication and commitment to Detroit and its great citizens." Every Detroit T-shirt is designed either in Detroit by Vadim, his friends or colleagues, and handcrafted in Michigan. His influences include the rich Detroit history, landmarks, retro and vintage styles, music, and sports. So be a rebel, and wear it proudly. And if you'd consider yourself a Detroit Rebel, welcome to the family ;)
