C Creations Infinity Fashion Show!

I’m sure many of you have noticed the immense amount of talk around “women supporting women”, but have you truly lived by that statement?

I’ve always supported the women in my life, and have felt support from so many others, so to me this was just something that came naturally. I’ve never felt it was my place to compete, or judge, or not throw my support another woman’s way. I want us all to be healthy, happy, successful, and loved!

When Cheryl Zemke of C. Creations asked if I would like to participate in her 8th Annual Infinity Fashion Show, I jumped at the opportunity. It was being held in the Downriver Council for the Arts, a beautiful space that stands strongly behind artists, men and women alike. The theme was “Women Helping Women”, and that was not only demonstrated through the show, but also through the energy that each model brought to the table.

We participated in several practices before the show, perfecting each segment. I practiced alongside seventeen other women, and each time we worked together seamlessly as a team. When it came to the show, it was apparent to everyone there that we truly were a group of women supporting each other.

…

We treated each other with kindness and respect. We helped one another pin and zip dresses, fix hair, apply makeup, and gave each other a hand at stepping on and off the podiums. We complimented, cheered, and celebrated together.

…

Not enough can be said about the stunning designs, choreography, and venue of this show. It will always be a pleasure supporting Cheryl’s fashion shows and publications. She is a passionate, driven, and dedicated artist who continually brings us all together to create magic.

Thank you to Cheryl, Laurie, Rachelle, and Joyce for having me, and for inspiring me to go above-and-beyond in my support of other women like you ladies do.

The Toyota C-HR!

Sometimes you just have to hit the road and travel somewhere new! 

What better excuse to take a road trip than your sister's birthday?

We took Toyota's advice of "let's go places" and hit the open road in the C-HR XLE Premium for a trip to Grand Rapids!

The C-HR had us feeling sporty chic! Built from the mind of a race car driver, this crossover had the sleek design, controlled handling, and secure seating of a vehicle with a need for speed. Too bad I drive like a granny ;) 

...

We saved time and money by not making any pesky stops to the gas station. With its fantastic fuel economy, we were able to make it to Grand Rapids and back on a single tank. Which meant more shopping ;)

...

We had no trouble weaving in and out of the busy city overflowing with detours, traffic, and crowds that came to see Art Prize. The turn capability of the C-HR was truly remarkable, and helped us out of some tight situations!

The C-HR kept us alert while driving the wee hours of the morning, and late hours after a long day. With its lane assist, we were notified when we started to get a little too close to crossing the line!

With its fantastic fuel economy, turn capability, and lane assist, this crossover proved to be the perfect travel companion!

Envy Eyewear!

Yes, you can and should wear shades all year 'round! Block those intense autumn rays with some stylish sunnies. We recently had the pleasure of speaking to Shawntil Howard, owner of Envy Eyewear.

Shawntil is a fun-loving and confident gal who loves to travel and take her business with her wherever she goes! Shawntil is the CEO of Shady B*tch Eyewear, a premier sunglasses brand. She recently returned from Seattle WA to her hometown of Detroit MI to start a new business, Envy Eyewear, tailored specifically to the Detroit fashion scene.

Shawntil shared with us what you should look for when shopping for eyewear.

Being someone who has only ever worn Ray Bans, I knew very little about the "do's" and "don'ts" of eyewear. Here are some hints that we found helpful:

Your glasses should never completely cover your eyebrows. They should come to the top edge of your brows at most. Covering them up makes the length of your face appear shorter. Besides, why spend all your time on creating bold brows if you're going to hide those beauties??

Choose a color that compliments your skin tone. If you have a lighter skin tone, go with a gold, rose gold, or silver. If you have a bronze skin tone, try a tortoise or classic black. If you have a darker skin tone, you can pull off a pop of color, like a blue or green.

Your glasses are a vital part of a look. When pulling together outfits, your glasses should be an accessory to complete your look rather than compete with it. They should reflect what type of style you are trying to convey.

We took Shawntil's advice and styled some of her sunglasses with two fall fashions.

For the first outfit, we reached for the round Jane glasses to go with a bohemian inspired look that gave us all the festival feels. For the second outfit, we matched the Melissa glasses with a sleek and sophisticated look that we felt gave off an Anna Wintour vibe.
