Playing Tourist!

I've lived in Michigan my whole life and had never been to the Upper Peninsula. Was I even allowed to call myself a true Michigander? Luckily enough, Erik saved me the embarrassment and gave me a grand tour of the UP. Let's just say I didn't want to leave!
....
Well, until it snowed that is.
...
Imagine endless woods painted in fall's vibrant palette, gushing waterfalls, astounding rock formations, and crisp blue water at every turn. It was an outdoorist's dream come true. We ogled over the beauty of Munising Falls, Miners Falls, and Tahquamenon Falls. We hiked the supposed "4 mile" trek to the Upper Tahquamenon Falls. It's not 4 miles, don't let them lie to you. My pedometer tracked it at 8 miles. I'm pretty sure they say 4 miles not to scare the tourists off.
...
Caught you Yoopers.
...
We ate at small town diners and bars with the absolute best comfort food. We spent hours riding the trails in the truck, crashing through mud and admiring the beautiful fall foliage. We camped right on the water with the perfect view of the Mackinaw Bridge. We also camped in the middle of the woods and were surrounded by cayotes. Waking up to sniffing and howling outside your tent is quite the experience. I was so scared I held my breath for an hour straight. That's probably how I was actually able to fall back asleep.
...
I think I straight up passed out from lack of oxygen, and woke up in the morning to a snow covered tent.
...
Even though we had our fair share of obstacles, it quickly became one of our favorite adventures. I played tourist in my own state, and can proudly say I am a true Michigander now ;)
